What is
the difference between your soap and the soap I buy at the store?
Have you ever
looked at the ingredients in your soaps, bath, & body products? If
not, now would be a good time to start. Go ahead...we'll wait while
you gather everything together and scan the lists. Chances are, you
will find a lot of long and difficult chemical sounding words. Now,
compare that with our natual, easily understood ingredients and
you'll begin to understand why we're so passionate about our skin care
products.
Soap goes through a
different process when commercially made. It is separated into
glycerin (which is what moisturizes the soap) and what is left over. The
glycerin is sold at a higher price while the remaining soap is mixed chock
full of unnaturally abrasive chemicals, detergents, artificial colors and
scents. We go to great lengths to keep our soaps 100% natural. We
use the highest percentage of enriching oils possible to deliver a super
sudsy, wildly moisurizing bar of soap every time you use it! Unlike
commercial bars of soap, ours contain the natural glycerin as a byproduct
of saponification (the reaction between the lye/water and oils that produces the
soap). This explains why our handcrafted soap is soothing for even
the most sensitive skin, and is not drying after use.
What do you
put in your soap?
Because our soap is
handcrafted, we can devote our attention to creating a simply
heavenly bar of luscious soap. To do this, we use a blend of Coconut
Oil, Palm Oil, Olive Oil, Essential Oils (for scent), natural micas and
herbs (for color), water, and Lye (to start the reaction between the oils
and water). By the end of the process all the Lye has been 'saponified'
out of the soap, leaving only the nourishing oils and amazing fragrance.
In contrast, here is a list of ingredients that a commercially made bar of
soap contains:
What You Won't See
In Our Soap!
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate - a detergent
to make a dense lather * Stearic Acid - fatty acid made from tallow
(animal fat). *
Sodium Isethionate - synthetic detergent *Sodium Stearate - thickner or
emulsifier * Cocamidopropyl Betaine - promotes lather * Sodium Chloride -
table salt, preservative * Tetrasodium EDTA - chemical preservative *
Trisodium Etridronate - chemical preservative * BHT - (butylhydroxytoluene)
Synthetic antioxidant to keep oils in formula from going rancid
How do I take care of my
soap?
We
make sure that our soap has the right balance between being soft enough to
have a nice thick lather and being hard enough to remain a firm bar of
soap in water. Pure glycerin bars melt pretty quickly after a couple
of uses and don't even have as much glycerin as our soaps do! When
using our soap, it is best if you keep it in a soap dish that allows the
water to drain from around the soap. Anything that keeps it from
sitting in a puddle of water is good. If you wish to store some bars it is best to store
them in a dark, cool place. We put our personal supplies in linen closets, sock and
lingerie drawers, and anywhere else that needs a little scent boost! |
